Really Awesome pack for hunting. Lots of versatility. The only downside I can say is the shoulder straps could be a little thicker and softer with some type of grip strips. The straps put some pressure on the collar bone. I really enjoy this pack.
2 main tests: ***Update after Colorado Hunt***
Follow up from my Colorado trip: My biggest complaint about this bag is the bow carrier. Multiple times the strap for the quick release would slip out and drop my bow. The first time my bow just crashed to the ground when I put the pack on. The next couple times I was able to catch it before it happened. During the hunting trip I put tape around it and that helped secure it and tell me if it was slipping. Not sure the options to fix this issue. Not sure it is an issue for rifle. Getting a little greedy, it would be awesome if the bow carrier was able to attach and detach without taking the bag off. Once you pulled the quick release, you have to take the bag off to put the bow back on the pack. Those are currently my 2 complaints. 12 days hunting and flying from NC to MS, MS to CO, CO to NC. I love that I could fit all I needed for my hunting trip and fly with it. I did not fly with my food to Colorado. The multiple breakdown of the pack made it so I could go as light or as heavy as I needed to. We did some overnight hunts and a lot of spot and stalk hunts. We experienced rain, snow, and shine. The pack was great through them all. Hopefully next year I get to test out the meat shelf with an elk.
1- 6 mile run/walk with 35lbs and bow attached to the weapon quick release. This pack was comfortable and dependable! It held all the gear I needed for a couple day pack and withstood the movement of a relatively quick trip (1:10 for 6.48 miles).
2- Meat shelf and strap strength. I put 90 lbs of weight (45lbs platex2). I added the 35 lbs pack and bow. I climbed my stairs in the house a few times. Moved around and had no issues with any straps or anything else. Considering the weight, it was fairly comfortable. However, it is going to get uncomfortable after a few miles.
I was excited to test out this bag and get the chance to do it for $1. The bag showed great quality right out of the box. There are several straps, pouches, and bags that can be broken down and reconfigured as needed. The weapon carrier is a great addition that will come in super handy. My 1 con at this point is the 3 day testing. This can be a challenge considering employment and timing of when the bag arrives. My recommendation is give someone 2 weeks to 1 month to try the bag out. I did what I could with the time I had but it would be nice to have a chance to take it out into the woods and test it. In my current location I just didn’t have that opportunity. I still rate this a 5/5 because the bag and the option are on point!
Love the pack. Fit so much stuff inside of it. Only thing I would love is to buy additional bags also some straps.
